Not that it is much of a surprise. Driders are the next creature model :)

Do not fret of you wanted something instead. I am sure you will be seeing several models done by Jonny. He does plan on doing this each month. with a couple weeks break between each one.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with!!!

Michele

I hope the Drider is "dynamic" for many variations; add crown for a queen, that kind of stuff. Scale up for queen too. Maybe be able to apply all the different drow heads to the single drider model. Have there be different Classes too; Cleric, wizard, etc.

Make tintable for variations, depending on where the drider lives. Tint green for a jungle drider. Tint tan for a desert/sand drider. Tint some shade blue for a ice/snow drider. Give advantages and disadvantages to these, snow ones immune to cold, but vulnurable to fire or acid. Jungle one's deal poision or acid damage.

Maybe do some tinting and effects for some undead Driders: make transparent for ghost/banshee, tint body white/pale and eyes red for Vampire, etc.

I'm interested in seeing how this will be handled. The possibility of different heads and genders, not to mention unarmed, 1handed, and 2handed animations makes this interesting, if not a little daunting.

Not much, if anything, on the scripting side of the puzzle with this particular creature though, which is unfortunate. Might have been some new spells or abilities with a different choice. Oh well.

I do know Jonny is going to do both genders. and considering going as far as alternate headpacks for them. I am not entirely sure to what extent. He did dabble with the initial design tonight but went to bed early :)

He needs to recharge I guess,

Zodiac. Those are some nice images. thank you for sharing.

Your welcome, glad you enjoyed the images.

It's smart for John to take a few weeks break to recharge, and not get burned out.

It's good that there will be two genders, but I think making an entire headpack for Drider's maybe going overboard.

I think a better headpack to make, would be one of various monster heads.

Why you ask? Because you can basically make new monster's just by making the head/neck only. As shown in the image below, someone made a NWN 2 hak that replaces an orc head with a minotaur head. Hence making a new monster just by making the head only. Here is the hak. http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... ail&id=287

I not trying to discourage modders from making whole new monsters. But I think we can cut some serious corners by just making the head only.

For more info about my idea click here http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... 776&id=286

I didn't vote for the drider but I still think it's a worthwhile monster to be adding. With Beholders and now driders on the way those underdark themed mods are certainly going to have a little more bite!

Good luck with the model Jonny!

Thank you everyone for all the encouragement!

I will be starting work on the driders tonight, where I'll be mapping out everything that needs to be done. The clock towards the deadline will start tomorrow. As for different heads. I am considering perhaps making two head choices per gender. However this all depends on time. Animation for the driders will be challenging enough, so I may need every minute I have.

Zodiac: Thank you for the excellent reference images. And I know it would probably be really nice for the community to get a lot more creature heads to put on stuff, but these challenges are both for my own benefit as for the community. Creating complete creatures within a deadline gives me a grand opportunity to hone my skill and my quality vs. quantity ratio. Cutting corners has never been an option for me when it comes to my craft :)

I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks again

Good luck good sir. I can't wait to see the end result. I haven't had a chance to download the beholder yet, but am hoping to include it in Hythum.

I'm glad the gelatinous cube didn't win. I'm looking forward to seeing how the drider turns out. I wonder how many Underdark adventures will be appearing at the Vault.

Jonny, all of Skullport and the Undermountain thank you profusely. Between the beholders, driders and possibly the yuan-ti. Our server is very excited.

Will you work off this poll for the creature(s) after the Drider? Or will there be a new poll? With a chance to add new monster options into the mix?

Thanks Again
